Ingredients

  • 100 g panko bread crumbs or a few slices of bread to make your own
  • 150 g plain flour
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch cracked black pepper
  • 300 ml plant based milk I use oat milk
  • 1 cauliflower
  • 120 g dairy free butter
  • 150 ml Wicked kitchen Asian Style Sauce from Tesco. Or something similar
  • 1 Tbsp Sriracha or hot sauce
  • sesame seeds to serve

Instructions

  1. Pre heat the oven to 180°c.

  2. If making your own bread crumbs, start by blitzing up a few slices of bread into crumbs.

  3. Next tip the flour, five spice, cumin and a pinch of salt and pepper into a bowl and whisk together with the milk until a batter forms.

  4. Remove the leaves from the cauliflower (keep the inner leaves in the fridge to use for something else) and break the cauliflower head into florets.

  5. Line a baking tray and set up your cauliflower dipping station in this order: Cauliflower florets, batter, breadcrumbs, baking tray. Cover each floret in the batter and dip into the breadcrumbs to coat and then space out evenly on a baking tray.

  6. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes.

  7. After 15 minutes melt the dairy free butter in a pan along with the asian style sauce and Sriracha.

  8. After 20 minutes, take the cauliflower out of the oven and cover the florets in the sauce and pop back in the oven for a further 20 minutes or until the bites look crisp and golden. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve with your favourite dipping sauce.
